"And at the feet of my master, I learnt the highest of human skills, the skill no other creature owns: I finally learnt how to lie.” Frankenstein, adapted by Nick Dear and presented by The Wanderers Theatre, follows The Creature’s perspective, rather than Victor Frankenstein’s, of the classic Gothic tale. From his birth, to his pursuit to assimilate into society, the created being learns both the beauty and the horror of the world he has been thrust into. The show dissects what it means to live, to love, and to fear. What is more terrifying? The capabilities of the unknown, or the known destructiveness of Man’s desire for knowledge? Performed underground in the Arts Incubator Film Studio, and employing a White-Box Theatre staging, this production highlights the isolation and desolation of the world surrounding Victor and The Creature. Returning for their third production, The Wanderers Theatre is excited to stage such a thrilling, thought-provoking, and suitably Gothic production of Frankenstein, that raises the central question: what does it mean to be human?
